Dating from 1878, La Maison d’Hercule is an exceptional 450 m² hôtel particulier set in the historic centre of Mayenne, opposite the former courthouse. Arranged over three levels, this remarkable residence reflects the elegance and grandeur of late-19th-century French architecture, with generous proportions, high ceilings and beautifully preserved period details.

The monumental entrance, framed by sculpted stone caryatids representing the four seasons, creates a striking first impression. Inside, the reception rooms reveal original wood panelling, marble fireplaces, oak flooring and ornate mouldings, showcasing the property’s distinctive historic character.

The interiors were later reimagined by the owner, an American-born master upholsterer and interior designer, whose eclectic vision brought together French decorative styles ranging from Louis XV and Louis XVI to Renaissance and 17th- and 18th-century influences.
